Door Finger, Tail & Paw Protector & Guard Solution

Unfortunately, every year in the UK up to 30,000 infants and children suffer from finger crush injuries caused by trapping their fingers in either the hinge or latch side of domestic doors, according to The British Association of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons (BAPRAS).  As a result of these injuries regrettably up to 1500 hundred infants and children require surgical intervention and in the worst-case scenario lose the tip of one or more fingers resulting in lifelong disability and life chances. Additionally, many dogs and cats sustain life-changing door-crush injuries to their tails, and paws as a direct result of a door being accidentally closed or a door slamming shut when the tail or paw is either in the hinge-side or latch side of a door.

There are well-established domestic home solutions to prevent hand and finger injuries, these include the simple wedged door stop,  hinge hanging door stops and foam gripping foam door stops.  However all of these products need to be removed and stored to close the door properly, this then leaves the door without any form of finger protection guarding against potential finger-trapping injuries leaving toddlers without any protection.  In recent times new innovative products have come to the marketplace, these offer enhanced security and safe safeguarding features including the ability to engage between the door jamb and door frame to prevent accidents automatically, this is a welcomed improvement for finger protection however many products are too expensive for many end users.
